1. Mrs. Alloa Caviness Anderson, author of Henry Cavinis, The Imigrant Infant, and Some of His Descendants, passed along what could be the names of Henri Cabaniss' parents. She said that a record originating in southern Frances records the 13 Dec 1655 christening of a Cabaniss, son of Pierre Cabaniss and Anne SOULTIENE. Mrs. Anderson strongly emphasizes that this could be Henri and his parents, but it is not proved.
2. Cabaniss, Allen, Cabaniss Through Four Generations: Some Descendants of Matthew and George, Cabaniss, Allen, 1969,1970,1971, offers that family tradition makes Mary’s surname Harrison or Harris, page 5.
3. Paticipation in the American Revolution by Matthew Cabaniss and his son George is documented by the following:

4. The extensive Clay genealogy at http://www.win.net/~clayco/clay/claytree.html reports Hannah Clay's date and place of birth, but indicates that verification is need for both facts as well as marriage to Matthew Cabaniss.
5. Cabaniss Through Four Generations: Some Descendants of Matthew and George by Allen Cabaniss page 13 gives the following information:
18 GEORGE 3 CABANISS (Matthew 2, Henri 1) is listed by McCall, Roster of Revolutionary Soldiers in Ga., p.44. Before end of the century he migrated with his brothers (See above under 13 CHARLES), through N.C., to Ga., ultimately settling in Jones Co., where in Oct. 1808 he served as a juror (Williams, Jones County, p.1073) and where the 1811 tax list shows him owning 810 acres (ibid., p.751). There he d. in 1815 (Jones Co. MB, 18081818, p.103, dated first Mon. of Dec. 1815: "It is ordered that letters of administration on the estate of George Cabaniss be granted to Palatea Cabaniss, Henry B. Cabaniss, Harrison Cabaniss, and Robert McGough.")
By his 1st marriage (wife's name unknown, possibly - Carter), he had a son:

George later m2. Palatea Harrison, dau. of Henry and Elizabeth (Avery) Harrison, hence first cousin of President William Henry Harrison and great-granddau. of Robert "King" Carter of Va. (Blood Royal, II, pp.276, 523). Of this union were b. the following children:

46 Elijah, b. Ga. 1794, m1. - Joicy (1797 5 Mar. 1845, El Dorado, Ark.); m2. Union Co., Ark., Harriet A. Bussey (b. 1825) and had Hezekiah (July 1847 23 Dec. 1848), Charles F. (b. 1849), Nathan (b. 1851), Henry E. (b. 1853), Ida R. (b. 1855), Elbridge H. (b. 1857), and an infant (b. 1859), all b. in Ark. Except for Hezekiah, all are mentioned in 1860 Census, Union Co., Ark., 10 July 1860, No. 170.

50 Mary (Polly), m. Larkin Wilson (17701845). From their dau. Pamelia descends Mrs. Grover Clyde Dekle, nee Charlotte Ober Tyus, 205 E. Cleveland Ave., Millen, Ga.; and from dau. Sandal descends Mrs. Charles M. Lord Jr., nee Leita Anne Cook, 38 Woodbury Forest Dr., Hampton, Va. (see Blood Royal above). There was also a dau. named Palacia Harrison Wilson who m. Thomas W. Stewart; she became, after her husband's death, a physician (Williams, Jones County, p.425429).
